October, 2009 Newsletter
Greetings!
It is the waxing moon as I begin to write this, and another month has now come to its end. It’s hard to fathom how quickly time passes as it seems only yesterday that I was awaiting the heat of the summer season. Now there is a definite chill in the air, and the moon shines so clear and bright in the night sky that it takes my breath away. I look forward to this magical time of autumn, to inhale its scent and witness its beauty. This is my favorite time of year, and I anticipate the Halloween season as much as I did when I was a child. October 31st brings Samhain, the third harvest, which marks the ending of another cycle of the seasons. The last of summer’s harvest has been cut, and it’s time to begin preparing for the winter that is fast approaching. It is also the time when the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds is at its thinnest, allowing the spirits of those departed to pass through this veil and visit us as they travel on their journey. Be sure to surround yourself in the quiet magic that a dark October evening brings, embrace the spirit of loved ones who have passed on, and be one with the eternal beauty of the night.
This “witchy” month of Halloween brings plenty of delights to the shop. I am looking forward to meeting author Dorothy Morrison and am so happy to have her spend the day with us. Be sure to stop by the shop on October 13th from 6 – 7 PM to meet this wonderful lady. I am also very excited to have an ad for Celtic Myth and Moonlight listed in the Witches Almanac! It’s a simple thing but I feel the ad symbolizes a rite of passage for this shop, one that I am very proud to be part of.
To celebrate the bewitching season of October, we will be taking 10% off all Witches Almanacs for the month of October. Happy Halloween!

Llewellyn wished to give this famous book a new incarnation – a bold new look that required all new artwork. Over 100 ink works were completed during the fall and winter of 2008, finishing in early spring of 2009. Along with illustrating over 80 characters of every shape, size and dimension, Sabrina supplied Llewellyn with additional artwork for page decoration. The “Field Guide” is the single largest illustration project Sabrina has ever been hired to complete, and we are so happy to have her in the shop offering a peek into this magical realm.
